Can our missle defense system really shoot down missle from other countries?

lol this made me laugh a little. Well...aegis is like a radar system. what actually shoots down the missile is another missile. I have faith in the us military ability to shoot down missiles. Its been proven with the patriot system shooting down skud missiles.
