How do I start out in coaching football? ?
Can someone who has no skill or experience at all at football coaching at 36 yrs old jump into the mix of coaching football. If so how do I start, with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders? Do I ask a school if I can volunteer or do I need to go to a training camp or something? I live in a small town with a losing season in high school football for the past ten years. We've only had 2 games won in the last 4 seasons, frankly I'm getting tired of losing. My 12 year old son and his team of the same school had a winning season this past year and went undefeated going 10 and 0. I don't want him to love football and me tell him how great it is if when he gets to high school ball and just gets disappointed by losing all the time. I'm not just a frustrated dad venting, I think I could really do this and am serious about trying. Please someone who has novice advice for me tell me what first steps to take to help put my towns team back on top. Ten yrs is a long time to keep hearing "Maybe next week boys". This is a small 2A school in northwest Arkansas. This school had a rich history of winning seasons in the past. I want to bring the past back to the present. Thanks ahead of time for any and all advice.
