The NFL: stormy weather ahead?
For about a week, I was scared to death that things wouldn't get resolved, and I think Paul Tagliabue is doing a fantastic job of filling the shoes of Roger Goodell. I am concerned about the future of football, but I think Tag knows what he's doing and is making all the right moves to establish his authority over the NFL. A comforting thought: Tag probably has a group of advisers whose only jobs are to anticipate and report problems that could arise, and I would be shocked if he was not already giving some serious thought to the CBA and is at least thinking about what needs to happen. Yes, I think revenue sharing can work, and they'd better keep the salary cap in place. I hope the owners understand that a big reason why football is so successful is because every team has a chance to turn it around, not because of the success of any one team, and if their only motivation for being involved in football is money, then I think they need to find a new career and stop throwing a monkey wrench in the game of professional football.
